SteelShort is made by Steelshort LLC, 2108 N St #17999, Sacramento, CA 95816. Until our Apple account moves to Steelshort LLC, the App Store lists our founder, Brooks Taylor, as the app’s seller.
We don’t accept story ideas, scripts, or other creative material, so please don’t send them. Section 6 of our Terms of Service explains what happens if you do.
Coins and purchases
Every purchase is a one-time charge. Nothing renews, and there is no subscription to cancel. Your Account page shows your coin balance, your most recent coin purchases and spending, and the episodes you unlocked with coins. For your full coin history, tap Download your data on that page. In the app, the Account tab lists your Everything Unlock and series unlocks. Can’t find a purchase? Email us and we will look it up.
Got a new iPhone? First check that it is signed in to the same Apple Account (Apple ID) you paid with. Then open the SteelShort app, tap Account at the bottom of the screen, and tap Restore purchases.
Refunds
Bought on steelshort.com? Email support@steelshort.com from the email address on your account. Tell us what you bought and about when. We answer refund requests within two business days. Unspent coins you paid for can be refunded within 30 days of purchase (bonus coins can’t be refunded), and the Everything Unlock within 14 days.
Bought in the iPhone app? Apple handles refunds of App Store purchases, and we can’t refund an App Store charge ourselves. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with the Apple Account you paid with, and choose Request a refund. You can also email us, and we will help. In the few cases our Refund Policy says we pay a refund ourselves, we pay it another way.
Our Refund Policy has the full terms, including what happens to coins and unlocks after a refund or a chargeback.
Account and privacy
On your Account page, Download your data gives you a copy of your account details, the Google or Apple sign-ins linked to it, your coin history, the episodes you unlocked with coins, and your watch progress. For anything else we hold about you, such as your Everything Unlock or series unlocks or our record of your agreeing to our Terms, or to correct your information, email privacy@steelshort.com from the email address on your account. We confirm that we received your request within 10 business days and answer within 45 days.
If you only use the app and never added an email, you can add one in the app (tap Account, then Add my email), choose a password from the link we send, and then download your data here. Or email privacy@steelshort.com with the order number from your Apple receipt and the date you bought. We will look for the account and tell you what kinds of information it holds. Anyone who sees your receipt could send us that number, so we do not email the information itself, such as what you watched. To get a copy of that, use the steps above.
Added your email in the app? We sent you a link to choose a password. It works for 45 minutes. If it has stopped working, open the app, tap Account, and tap Change email or send again. Or go to steelshort.com/forgot and enter your email.
To stop us sharing your information with Meta for advertising, sign in and use Your Privacy Choices once: it then covers your account on every phone and computer where you sign in. If you don’t sign in, use it on each browser you use, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser. You can also email privacy@steelshort.com with the email address on your account. Our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service cover the details. To delete your account, see below.
Delete your SteelShort account
This is how to delete your account in SteelShort: Short TV Shows, the SteelShort iPhone app, and on steelshort.com. SteelShort is provided by Steelshort LLC. You can delete your account and its data at any time, in the app, on the website, or by email. Deleting it cannot be undone.
In the app: tap Account at the bottom of the screen. Scroll all the way down and tap Delete account. Tap Continue, then tap Delete forever. If you deleted the app and downloaded it again, tap Restore purchases (or Sign in) before you tap Delete account.
On the website: sign in, open your Account page, tap Delete account, then tap Yes, delete my account forever.
You won’t be asked for a password if you bought in the app and never chose a password or signed in with Apple or Google, or if you made your account with Apple or Google. Otherwise you will be asked for yours. If you never chose one, go to steelshort.com/forgot, enter your email, and choose a password from the link we send (it works for 45 minutes). Or email us as shown below.
By email: tap this address to start an email to us: support@steelshort.com. The subject line is filled in for you. Send it from the email address on your account. Before we delete anything, we write to the email address on your account and ask you to confirm.
If you made your account with Sign in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, you can’t send from that address. The easiest way is to delete in the app as shown above; you won’t be asked for a password. Or email us from any address, say that you used Hide My Email, and include the private address Apple made for you. You can see it on your iPhone: open Settings, tap your name, tap Sign-In & Security, tap Sign in with Apple, then tap SteelShort. We will write to that address to confirm, and Apple forwards our email to you. In the same place, you can also stop using Sign in with Apple for SteelShort at any time.
If your account has no email (you bought in the app and never added one), tell us the order number from your Apple receipt and the date you bought instead. Apple’s receipt shows an “Order ID”. We can’t always match it to an account, so the surest way is in the app: install SteelShort, tap Account, tap Restore purchases, then delete the account as shown above. If you can’t, send us the Order ID and the date and time you bought. We delete an account only when we can confirm the purchase on it is the one on your receipt, and we will tell you either way.
Where to find your receipt: Apple emails you a receipt right after you buy. Search your email for SteelShort. On an iPhone you can also open Settings, tap your name, tap Media & Purchases, tap View Account, then tap Purchase History.
When you delete in the app or on the website, your account is deleted right away. When you ask by email, we delete it and write back to tell you, within 45 days and usually much sooner. If we can’t find the account, we will tell you that too.
What we delete: your account and the email address and sign-in details on it, your coins, the episodes you unlocked, your Everything Unlock and series unlocks, your list of purchases, your watch history and progress, our record of when you agreed to our Terms, and the app and website activity recorded under your account.
What we keep: a few records stay after your account is deleted, for the periods listed in Section 6 of our Privacy Policy:
- If Apple or Google refunded one of your purchases, we keep the store’s number for that purchase, a note that it was refunded, and the date we noted it, and nothing else, for as long as SteelShort runs, so that refunded purchase can’t be used to unlock episodes again.
- For each website payment, and each coin purchase made in the app (in app versions that sold coins), the number Apple, Google or Stripe gave it and the date, for as long as SteelShort runs. Nothing in it links to you. It stops the same purchase from being counted twice.
- Copies in our backups are erased within about 7 days. Our server’s records of visits (server logs) are erased after about 30 days.
- Emails you sent us, and our replies: Up to three (3) years after our last reply, then deleted.
- Apple, Google and Stripe keep their own records of what you paid. If you paid on the website, our records at Stripe also stay: the customer record for your account (your email address, and your name if you gave one) and, for each website checkout, the email address used, your account number, the address of the page you bought from and, unless you had opted out of advertising sharing, your IP address, browser type and Meta’s identifiers. To have us delete that customer record and remove those details where Stripe allows it, email privacy@steelshort.com. Stripe still keeps its own record of each payment.
- Activity the app or website recorded before you signed in or bought, such as which free episodes were played. It is filed only under a random code for that copy of the app, or a code for your browser that changes every day, not under your account. If you delete your account in the app, the app also gets a new code, so that activity can no longer be connected to you. It is erased after 24 months.
- If you used the website, Meta keeps what we sent it about your visits, buy-button taps, checkouts and purchases there, and whether you started a second or later episode of a show or reached the end of a show’s free episodes (Privacy Policy, Section 4). We do not send Meta which shows or episodes you watch.
Deleting your account does not by itself refund anything. If you want a refund for something you bought on steelshort.com, ask for it before you delete, while we can still see your purchases and coin balance; Section 5 of our Terms of Service explains how unused coins are handled when an account is closed. A purchase made through Apple or Google stays with your Apple Account or Google account. If you tap Restore purchases later, it unlocks again, unless it was refunded. If you are signed in, it goes on that account. If not, the app makes a new account for you. It will ask you to agree to our Terms again, but there is nothing to fill in. Coins are not restored.
Playback problems
Most playback issues clear up after a page reload. If an episode still will not play, tell us which show and episode and what browser and device you are on. That is usually enough to track it down.
Accessibility
We want SteelShort to be easy for everyone to use. If anything on SteelShort is hard to see, hear, or use, email support@steelshort.com. Tell us what happened and what device you were using. A person will answer.
