Effective October 13, 2026
This Refund Policy (this "Policy") sets out the terms on which purchases of Coins, of the Everything Unlock, and of Series Unlocks in the SteelShort service, whether made on our website at steelshort.com (the "Website") or in our mobile applications for iOS and, when available, Android (each an "App," and together the "Apps"), may be refunded. This Policy is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service, so Section 10 of the Terms of Service governs changes to it. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms of Service, and the "Company," "we," "us," and "our" mean Steelshort LLC.
The Service has no subscriptions. Every purchase is a single, one-time charge for a pack of Coins, for the Everything Unlock, or for a Series Unlock, made only when you choose to buy. There is nothing to cancel, and nothing renews.
1. Refunds of Coin Purchases Made on the Website
- Unspent Coins are refundable upon request made within thirty (30) days of purchase, at the price paid. Where a pack included bonus Coins, a refund of the pack removes the purchased Coins and the bonus Coins together.
- Spent Coins — Coins already applied to unlock an episode — are generally non-refundable, because the licensed access has been delivered. Unlocks made in error will be reversed upon prompt notice to support@steelshort.com.
- Bonus Coins issued without charge — as a welcome gift, through promotions, or as a goodwill accommodation — have no cash value and are not refundable, but remain spendable in accordance with the Terms of Service.
Removed episodes. If the Company permanently removes an episode you unlocked with Coins, however those Coins were bought, the Company will credit the Coins you spent on it to your account; you may also ask for the credit at support@steelshort.com (Section 5(e) of the Terms of Service).
Section 9 of the Terms of Service separately provides for a refund of the purchase price of Coins you purchased and had not spent if the Company terminates your account other than for cause.
1A. Refunds of the Everything Unlock and Series Unlocks
- The Everything Unlock bought on the Website is refundable in full upon request made within fourteen (14) days of purchase, at the price paid, whatever you have watched.
- The Everything Unlock or a Series Unlock bought in one of our Apps on or after October 13, 2026 is refunded by Apple under its own policy or, for a Google Play purchase, by Google or by us, as described in Section 2. An Everything Unlock bought in an App before that date can still be refunded by us on request within fourteen (14) days of purchase.
- When an Everything Unlock or Series Unlock is refunded, it ends: the episodes it unlocked are locked again, except episodes available to you without charge and episodes you unlocked with Coins.
- Where a chargeback or payment dispute is filed on an Everything Unlock purchase made on the Website, the Everything Unlock is suspended while the dispute is open. If the dispute ends with the payment standing (because it is decided in our favor, or it is withdrawn or closed without a chargeback), the Everything Unlock is restored. If your bank returns the payment to you, the Everything Unlock ends.
- If the Company offers Hollow Creek or County Line in the Successor Service, your Everything Unlock, or your Series Unlock for that series, carries over there, including new episodes, at no extra charge (Section 5A(d) and (f) of the Terms of Service).
- If the Service is discontinued within twelve (12) months after your purchase and no Successor Service honoring your Everything Unlock or Series Unlock is made available to you within ninety (90) days after discontinuation, the Company will refund the price you paid, to your original payment method or, where that is no longer possible, by another reasonable means, as described in Section 5A(d) and (f) of the Terms of Service.
2. Purchases Made in the Apps (App Store and Google Play)
Anything bought inside the Apps is an in-app purchase paid through Apple or Google, which collects the payment for the seller under the store's own terms. Apple decides and pays refunds of App Store purchases under its own refund policy and timelines. Google Play purchases can be refunded by Google, or by us through Google Play. To ask for a refund:
- Apple App Store: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, signed in with the Apple Account you paid with, as Apple explains on its refund request page.
- Google Play: request a refund through the Google Play app or at play.google.com under Order history, as Google explains on its refund request page, or write to support@steelshort.com with the order number (it starts with "GPA"). Google Play lets us refund a Google Play purchase ourselves.
If you contact support@steelshort.com about an in-app purchase, we will explain the store's process and support your request; we cannot reverse an App Store charge ourselves.
Store refunds. When a store tells us it has refunded, reversed, or cancelled an in-app purchase, what that purchase added to your account ends: if it was the Everything Unlock or a Series Unlock, that unlock ends, in the Apps and on the Website. It stays ended even if the account is deleted and the purchase is restored later. If the store reverses its refund, the unlock is restored; if that does not happen on its own, write to support@steelshort.com. Deleting your account does not cancel or refund an in-app purchase.
Where Section 1, 1A, 3, or 4 of this Policy, or Section 4(d), 5A(d) or (f), or 9 of the Terms of Service, says the Company will refund a purchase, the Company refunds a Google Play purchase through Google Play. For an App Store purchase, under Sections 1 and 3, and under Section 1A except as the next sentence provides, you ask Apple first, and if Apple does not refund it or its process is not available to you, the Company refunds you by another reasonable means; under the other provisions, the Company refunds you by another reasonable means, because it cannot reverse an App Store charge. A refund owed because the Service was discontinued (the last point of Section 1A, and Section 4), and a refund under Section 1A of an Everything Unlock bought in an App before October 13, 2026, is paid by the Company itself, through Google Play for a Google Play purchase and otherwise by another reasonable means.
3. Unauthorized or Erroneous Charges
Duplicate charges, charges in an amount other than the one displayed at checkout, and charges to an account you did not authorize are refunded in full, in every case, without regard to the time limits in Sections 1 and 1A. For Website purchases the Company issues the refund directly; for Google Play purchases the Company issues it through Google Play; for App Store purchases the Company will support your request to Apple. In each case the Company will remove the affected Coins, or end the affected unlock, so that no one benefits from the charge.
4. Transition to the Successor Service
As described in Section 4 of the Terms of Service, the Company intends to replace the Service with the Successor Service, a new version of SteelShort, and will make a good-faith effort to carry your unspent Coin balance into it. That effort is not a guarantee. Episodes of Hollow Creek and County Line you unlocked with Coins, and the Everything Unlock and Series Unlocks, are guaranteed to carry over if the Company offers those series in the Successor Service (Sections 4(c), 5A(d) and 5A(f) of the Terms of Service). If the Company is unable to carry forward Coins you purchased and had not spent, the Company will credit Coins of equivalent value to your account in the Successor Service. Episodes unlocked with Coins that cannot be carried forward will be treated as removed episodes under Section 1 ("Removed episodes"), with the Coins spent on them credited to you in the same way.
For Coins and episodes unlocked with Coins, this credit is the exclusive remedy for the transition, with one exception: if the Service is discontinued and no Successor Service is made available to you within ninety (90) days after discontinuation, the Company will refund Coins you purchased and had not spent, at the price paid, to your original payment method or, where that is no longer possible, by another reasonable means. The thirty-day refund window in Section 1 continues to apply to any purchase made within the thirty days before the transition. The Company will attempt to notify you before any such change, by email or, if your account has no email address, as described in Section 19 of the Terms of Service. Bonus Coins issued without charge are not credited under this Section. The Everything Unlock and Series Unlocks are covered by the last two points of Section 1A and by Section 5A(d) and (f) of the Terms of Service.
5. Statutory Rights
Nothing in this Policy limits or excludes any right you hold under applicable consumer protection law that cannot be waived by agreement. Where the law of your jurisdiction affords you greater rights than this Policy, those rights prevail.
6. Chargebacks
Before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank, we ask that you contact support@steelshort.com. The Company responds promptly and, where a refund is due under this Policy, will issue it (or, for an App Store purchase, support your request to Apple) as described in Sections 1, 1A, 2, and 3 — ordinarily faster than the bank dispute process, which can take two (2) to three (3) months or longer. Where a chargeback or other payment dispute is filed on a Coin purchase made on the Website, the Coins from that purchase, including any bonus Coins that came with it, are removed from the account while the dispute is open, even if they were already spent. If that leaves your balance below zero, you will not be able to unlock episodes with Coins until your balance is back to at least 25 Coins, and Coins you buy later go first toward the shortfall. If the dispute ends with the payment standing (because it is decided in our favor, or it is withdrawn or closed without a chargeback), the Coins are restored; if your bank returns the payment to you, they stay removed. Where a store refunds or reverses an in-app purchase, Section 2 applies.
7. How to Request a Refund
For Website purchases, submit refund requests by email to support@steelshort.com from the email address associated with your account, identifying the charge concerned and its approximate date. The Company responds to refund requests within two (2) business days. Approved refunds of Website purchases, whether of Coins or of the Everything Unlock, are issued to the original payment method through Stripe and typically post within five (5) to ten (10) business days, depending on the issuing bank. For App Store purchases, use Apple's process described in Section 2; for Google Play purchases, use Google's process or write to us with the order number. When you ask a store for a refund, you are welcome to tell us at support@steelshort.com as well, so that we can adjust your account promptly.
